Chapter 1. Early History of Alummoottil Tharavad.
In this chapter, I have tried to present the early history of Alummoottil (upto the first 5 generations), for which there is no documentary evidence. Here, truths and imagination are interwoven to make the history of this very old Ezhava Tharavad as realistic as possible.
Alummoottil family has a known tradition of about 400 years and at that time the family house (Tharavad) was in Kulasekharapuram, a small hamlet about 3 Kms north of the Karunagappally town in the Kollam district of Kerala State. It is said that the village derived its name – Kulasekharapuram – from of one of the Karanavar (chief man of the family) by name Kulasekharan.
