There was a good collection of ‘thaliyola grandham’ of various ‘manthram’ connected to ‘manthravadam’ with him which he kept very secretly, even away from his family members, and refered to them occasionally. He was very thorough with all the ‘manthram’ in these books. Even after his death, nobody in the family was daring enough to touch these books. Unfortunately, most of these books were destroyed around 1874, when the building at ‘Ambilezhathu’ was renovated, about 24 years after his death. (At that time, his eldest son Vallabhassery Kochukunju Panicker and his wife Alummoottil Ummini Channatty (my great grand mother) stayed there. Some books, still left there, were destroyed later by putting in fire by their son, Alummoottil Padmanabhan Channar I, on the advice by Kandan Koran Vaathy). These books should have been preserved, even though they were connected to ‘manthravadam’.
Manthravadi Mathevan Channar II was a legend even during his life time. He was very adventurous and had shown many wonderful incidents connected to ‘manthrvadam’ and many stories spread about his abilities in this field.
