Amma’s sort of emigration to the territories of Kayamkulam Raja raised considerable attention in those days, but her warrior family traditions were viewed as a very welcome addition by the host Raja. Soon, Amma’s family became the chief Kalari masters of Kayamkulam Raja. Their access and influence in the Raja’s court were second to none.

There are stories about how two of her warrior sons chose to slay each other instead of being hauled before the Raja accused of being disloyal. Between present day Muttom and Karipuza, some of the paddy fields are still known as “vettu kandam” where the brothers swiftly killed each other in the tradition of Kalarippayattu while in the process of being captured by Kayamkulam Raja’s troops.
