In Rakhtasakshikal Zindabad movie, Alummoottil Meda is shown as the residence of Parthasarathy Iyengar. He is the leader of the Brahmin Sabha. He is a close associate of Diwan Sir Chetput Pattabhiraman Ramaswami Iyer. Diwan visits Alummottil in one of the scenes. Although historically, most of these facts are nothing but fiction, it is a fact that Diwans of Travancore frequently visited Alummoottil and were closely tied to the family chieftains. Venu Nagavally directed the movie. Cheriyan Kalpakavadi wrote the script. It starred Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Sukanya, Nedumudi Venu, and Nassar. The movie was released on the 52nd anniversary of the Punnapra-Vayalar massacre (1946) orchestrated by Diwan CP.

Chandramukhi is the Tamil remake of Manichitrathazhu. It is loosely based on the assassination of Kochu Kunju Channar of Alummoottil. Prabhu plays the role of Kochu Kunju Channar, Rajnikant plays the role of the psychologist and Jyotika plays the role of woman who suffers from Disassociate Identity Disorder. The movie was produced by Sivaji productions.

Bhool Bhulaya is the hindi version of Manichitrathazhu, based on the original story of Alummoottil Channar's assassination. Akshay Kumar plays the role of the psychologist and Vidya Balan plays the role of the woman who is possessed.
